     263MadWifi supports the use of the Wireless Extensions ioctl's equal to or 
     264greater than WE18 (linux 2.6.15). When using wpa_supplicant with a recent 
     265linux kernel, it is preferred to use the 'wext' driver backend, rather than 
     266the private MadWifi ioctl's. This means that '-D wext' option should be used 
     267with wpa_supplicant when the linux kernel version is 2.6.15 or above.
