Description

I am not able to get the wireless working on my new laptop. On #madwifi i was told to create a Bug Report.

So i have tried it with several madwifi versions (last stable, svn and the one that is delivered with ubuntu edgy and feisty). I always had the same error. But first the lspci -vv:

And the dmesg after modprobing ath_pci:

I also had HAL status 3 sometimes but at the moment i cannot reproduce this. If it is interesting for you: i also can't get it working with ndiswrapper and the XP driver that is provided by Acer.

The Atheros-Label on the bottom of the laptop says: AR5BXB63

Did you guys get the HAL error 3 after using Windows, then rebooting (warm) to Linux? Or does it also appear after a cold boot?

i dont have windows on the laptop. after booting i have hal 13 after removing and probing the modules again i get hal 3

We have an AR5BXB63 labelled here, and a AR5006X is recognised but not installiert. Error code 10. No support from Acer is available. Does anyone have the correct driver to get this WLAN card working?

seems to be dead here... or u all uses the win driver... would be really nice if someone at least could tell me the state of affairs.

AR5005 testing is still on my to-do. MadWifi 0.9.3 at least loaded without any issues on my Notebook (with Ubuntu Feisty), but I had no functional tests with it yet. It will take some more time before I come around to perform my tests, though.

I'm experiencing similar problems(with HAL status 13) on an LG R400 laptop with Atheros wireless.

Here's my lspci -vv output:

Although madwifi would be preferrable, anything that gets the card up and running will suffice. Has anyone succesfully breathed life into this chip with ndiswrapper? If so, which driver was used?

Thanks.

Well, even if the madwifi-old-openhal recognizes the card, it cannot be used.

<Kaloz> nah
<Kaloz> minipci express
<Kaloz> no change for openhal at all
<Kaloz> those are too new

So hopefully my card will help the madwifi team to fix this.

Same card here, on an Acer 5050-3308, the Atheros card has the code: AR5BXB63 on the back. Tried SVN from today, didn't work, with:

MadWifi: unable to attach hardware: 'Hardware revision not supported' (HAL status 13)

Hi, I've an Acer 5100, with the AR5BXB63 card (indicated in botton of laptot) but in windows the driver says that it is an AR5007EG. Why this??? and i didn't find the AR5BXB63 in Atheros oficial page.

07/13/07 17:55:47 changed by Andre

Well, recentily i've brought a Laptop it's comes with Windows by default, in windows this device is labeled as AR5007EG, but in the botton of laptop have a label sayng that wireless is AR5BXB63. Well with MadWifi - this returns HAL status 13 And sometimes it's returns HAL status 3 In open hal the interfaces shows up (With Correct MAC) but don't work

Well, this is some parts of inf file of driver for winXP

//and then look this
ATHER.DeviceDesc.3067        = "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter"
//look that DeviceDesc 3067 is referencing to an AR5007EG, this is aparentily the reaseon of why it shows AR5007EG, but why this??

Well the Openhal Attach a Ar5212 for this device but the win driver show AR5211, or this use Ar5211+ar52112.

Well i'm a programmer but not especialist in drivers or modules, if this informations is wrong plese tell me why, and can delete it. I think that this device is not so far of a funcional hal, or openhal for it.

Thanks.

If "this card" refers to the AR5BXB63, then it should be the AR5007EG chipset as mentioned above.

Hi, I found a entry in wi-fi.org in certifications for this device (AR5BXB63) this says that the card is AR5006EG (2423) ????, certifications.wi-fi.org/wbcs_ViewCertificate.php?product_id=5180

in madwifi.org/wiki/Compatibility/Atheros says that is compatible

in ticket madwifi.org/ticket/1358 02:00.0 "Ethernet controller" "Atheros Communications, Inc." "AR5006EG 802.11 b/g Wireless PCI Express Adapter" -r01 "AMBIT Microsystem Corp." "Unknown device 0428"

Says AR5006EG, with 0428 id

I'm losted :(

I also have this problem on an LG R400.

Unfortunately i can't extract the windows driver from the .cab since it's packed with installshield and even unshield fails on it so i can't use ndiswrapper.

If any one has a link to a windows driver so i can use ndiswrapper in the meantime, please post the URL or send me an email.

Thanks.

  • summary changed from Unable to attach hardware (HAL status 13) on Acer Aspire 5051wxmi to Hardware Support: Acer Aspire integrated wireless - Acer hardware has problems.

I also have a new acer aspire 5100: I was able to install the madwifi-old-openhal successfully, the wireless extensions seem to work, I do not find any error messages, but still the adapter seems unable to tx/rx. iwlist scan returns a "network is down" message.

The Acer 3680-2682 has the same issue as the 5xxx line:

Relevant PCI data:

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5006EG 802.11 b/g Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

(that's PCI ID 168c:001c for the raw values)

The case labeling also indicates that it is a AR5BXB63 inside. Same results as listed above with both HAL and OpenHAL as of revision 2635, checked against dadwifi, dadwifi-openhal, madwifi, madwifi-old and madwifi-old-openhal.

This is no support channel for WinXP, and the ticket obviously is unrelated to your problem.
